Fincantieri joins the Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Through this membership agreement, the Group will be able to develop dialogues with research scientists, faculty members, and students to remain at the forefront of innovation.
This membership also aligns with the course toward implementing the 2023-2027 Business Plan.
This relationship will become part of Fincantieri’s commitment to innovate and be at the cutting edge in the development of new technologies in strategic areas, such as Digital Transformation – with a focus on Artificial Intelligence – and Energy and Green Maritime Transition.
The company stated that the Industrial Liaison Program will allow Fincantieri and its subsidiaries - among which a significant role in the signing has been played by Vard - to establish robust relationships with the other companies that are part of the ILP and with over 1,000 MIT-connected startups, as well as offering on-demand training opportunities for the Group's employees.
The MIT’s Industrial Liaison Program is a membership-based program for large organizations interested in long-term, strategic relationships with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT engages with organizations from around the globe – in any sector – that are concerned with emerging research- and education-driven results that will be transformative.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, said: “The membership in MIT’s Industrial Liaison Program will significantly strengthen Fincantieri's leadership position in high-value-added shipbuilding. Engaging with international centers of excellence enriches our repository of knowledge and enhances our competitive advantage on a global scale. Our goal is to operationalize innovation, transforming it into tangible products that create new employment opportunities”.
