UAE based EDGE Group says 510 OPV’s design is based on discussions with client.
Nafea Salim Ali, Marketing Team Leader at EDGE told DefenseHere their latest product 510 OPV (Offshore Patrol Vessel) was built by the EDGE entity Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB).
Salim Ali said “The whole design with the combat system, it was built when the discussion with our client. This is one of our advanced products.”
Emphasizing its high-tech credentials, Salim Ali claimed that the 510 OPV “can operate in any condition of the sea. Also, it can be used as a search and rescue offshore vessel and fast attack OPV.”
Noting that EDGE is in “discussion with some countries to build this what is still under process and hopefully we're going to build this one,” Salim Ali described the boat’s specifications:
“51-meter boat can accommodate 30 persons. The range of this OPV is about 2700 nautical mile. The endurance is about 21 days. It's equipped with the most advanced combat system. And as you can see, there are two fast interceptor boats that 12 meter, which is also built by ADSB with two jet skis, 3D radar, 12.7mm gun and the rocket launcher.”
510 OPV was first unveiled in the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia where ADSB CEO David Massey emphasized their focus on “meeting the increased global demand for tactical and sophisticated vessels with high level multi-mission capabilities. In line with the UAE leadership’s vision, we are focused on developing ‘Made in the UAE’ products that have serious export potential.”
