The Chinese and Russian militaries held a “strategic consultation,” discussing bilateral as well as international security issues, Beijing said Thursday.
According to a statement by China’s Defense Ministry, the two militaries held the 22nd round of strategic consultation in Beijing on Wednesday.
“The two sides had in-depth exchanges around topics including international and regional security and mil-to-mil relations,” the statement said.
According to the Defense Ministry, the two militaries will “further improve the level of strategic coordination and make new contributions to promoting peace and security in the region and the world, as well as promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.”
Beijing and Moscow held the military dialogue when Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was in China on a two-day trip until Wednesday where he met President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
The trip came as annual trade between the two countries surpassed $200 billion for the first time this year.
