“We were honored to welcome General Luis Espinoza, Director of the FAMAE Military Factory, and the delegation of the Chilean Land Forces at ASELSAN,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“We aim to increase our cooperation with countries in the region, especially Chile, where our tank modernization project continues successfully,” he added.
Leopard 2A4 tank modernization
ASELSAN and the FAMAE on July 14, 2023 have signed a contract for the modernization of Leopard 2A4 tanks.
This agreement will provide FAMAE with technology transfer, know-how, and the ability to expand its capacity and extend the life of the tanks.
The solution, tailored to the specific needs of the South American country’s army, will allow the Leopard tanks to be used for extended periods, addressing specific requirements according to Chile's geographical scenario and budget framework.
