BMC delivers 100 armored vehicles with locally produced engines to Turkish Land Forces and Gendarmerie

100 tactical wheeled armored vehicles, produced by BMC with one hundred percent Turkish engineering and equipped with the locally produced TUNA engine, were delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command and the Gendarmerie General Command.

The project, which started in 2016, reached a 95 percent domestic rate

The Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles Project started in 2016 in line with the needs of the Turkish Land Forces and Gendarmerie. The first two members of the vehicle family developed within the scope of the project, KİRPİ and VURAN, have been delivered since 2018. To date, more than 1,500 vehicles from this family have been exported abroad.

The project started with a 60 percent locality rate at the beginning and reached a 95 percent localization rate today.

In addition to BMC, companies such as ASELSAN, MKE, Sarsılmaz and the local armor company Miilux also contributed to the project. The locally produced engine of the vehicles, TUNA, was developed by BMC Power and made its first ignition in 2020. Civilian versions of the 400-horsepower engine are also planned to be produced.

First Mass Production Domestic Motorized Armored Vehicles

KİRPİ II vehicles with TUNA engines successfully completed their inspection and acceptance tests in December 2024. At the ceremony, a total of 100 vehicles, 90 of which are VURAN and 10 of which are KİRPİ, were delivered.
