ASELSAN has completed a modernization program for its KORAL land-based Electronic Support (ES) and Electronic Attack (EA) system, enhancing its capabilities to meet evolving operational requirements.
The Turkish Armed Forces have operated KORAL for several years as a core element of their electronic warfare inventory. According to ASELSAN, the modernization focused on critical infrastructure within the system, integrating new-generation subsystems to improve performance against current and emerging threats.
The company noted that the system now provides a wider frequency range, stronger jamming and deception functions, and improved adaptability. KORAL’s phased-array antenna and high-power output allow it to engage multiple targets simultaneously, offering greater operational flexibility in complex threat environments.
Electronic warfare has become increasingly significant in areas such as target detection, radar suppression, satellite navigation, and communications. ASELSAN emphasized that the upgraded system is designed to counter advanced, adaptive, and multi-layered threats by strengthening situational awareness and electronic attack capabilities.
KORAL also plays a role within Türkiye’s multi-layered air defense architecture known as “Steel Dome” supporting Suppression of Enemy Air Defense missions. ASELSAN stated that the system continues to provide radar suppression and protection for friendly forces, maintaining its role as a key asset in Türkiye’s electronic warfare portfolio.
