ANAVIA, a Swiss subsidiary of EDGE specializing in rotary-wing unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has inaugurated a new facility in Bilten, Switzerland, expanding its European operations and research capabilities.
The site, officially opened in August, will serve as the company’s headquarters and a dedicated centre for research and development of next-generation unmanned helicopters. It complements ANAVIA’s existing location in Näfels, which will remain focused on serial production.
Jon Andri Jörg, Co-CEO and Founder of ANAVIA, said:
“Our new HQ in Bilten is a testament to our commitment to delivering advanced unmanned aerial systems for defence, security, and civil applications. As Bilten becomes the nucleus for engineering activities and platform innovation, Näfels will serve as our centre for serial production, enabling us to scale with precision and agility.”
Co-CEO Ishan Sahgal added:
“Through this dual-hub model, we’re accelerating development cycles, strengthening collaboration with our partners, and advancing the future of autonomous rotorcraft systems.”
The company expects the facility to generate new jobs in the region, with its combined workforce in Bilten and Näfels projected to surpass 100 employees.
ANAVIA’s current focus includes the development of the HT-750 heavy-lift unmanned helicopter, which is designed to carry payloads of up to 750 kilograms, operate for 15 hours, and achieve a range of more than 2,500 kilometers. The system can be used for both cargo and personnel transport in manual-assisted or fully autonomous modes.
