L3Harris completes first aircraft inspection for Moroccan C-130 modernization program

U.S. defense company L3Harris Technologies announced it has completed inspections on the first Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) C-130 transport aircraft as part of an ongoing fleet modernization program.

According to a statement from the company, the aircraft is undergoing maintenance, repairs, and modification at the L3Harris facility in Waco, Texas. The initial scope of work for this first platform includes the integration of a new standby instrument and a digital engine display upgrade.

The company stated that the program’s execution phase will advance with the induction of a second Moroccan C-130 planned for this fall. A third aircraft is scheduled to follow later this year, which is set to receive a comprehensive avionics upgrade featuring a fully digital cockpit.

The modifications involve program depot maintenance, engine overhauls, and logistics support designed to extend the service life of the legacy aircraft. L3Harris was originally awarded the multi-year contract in July 2025 to sustain and modernize multiple RMAF C-130 platforms, replacing aging systems with digital avionics to reduce long-term maintenance requirements.
