Founded in 2008, Flightwin specializes exclusively in heavy-lift unmanned helicopters, positioning itself as a niche player focused on high-payload aerial logistics. Speaking to Defensehere.com, Chong Chen, Marketing Director of Flightwin, detailed the company’s portfolio, which now spans platforms ranging from light tactical systems to the world’s largest unmanned helicopter in its class.
“Our core business is heavy-lift unmanned helicopters. This is all we do,” Chen told Defensehere.com. “Today we are presenting three different platforms, from a small helicopter with a 50-kilogram payload to our largest model, which can carry up to one ton—the biggest unmanned helicopter of its kind in the world.”
Flightwin’s solutions are designed with archipelagic and disaster-prone regions in mind, particularly Southeast Asia. In countries such as Indonesia, where thousands of islands complicate logistics, the company’s helicopters are intended to support cargo transport, emergency response and humanitarian missions. According to Chen, the one-ton-class platform can be used not only for logistics but also to evacuate casualties during natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons.
“In emergency situations, the helicopter can carry up to six wounded people from disaster sites,” Chen said. “It allows crews to reach isolated areas quickly and bring injured people back safely.”
At the lighter end of the range, Flightwin offers a compact unmanned helicopter capable of carrying 50 kg, suitable for both civilian and government use. Its ability to take off and land on ships makes it particularly relevant for maritime environments common across Southeast Asia. Chen also emphasized that the platform is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to European systems while maintaining high functionality.
A more mature platform in Flightwin’s lineup is the FWH-1500, which can carry up to 300 kg. The helicopter is configured for multiple missions, including aerial firefighting—where it can deploy up to six fire-extinguishing bombs—medical evacuation using a dedicated cabin, cargo delivery, and emergency telecommunications support. In disaster scenarios, it can transport mesh networks, satellite communications or public network equipment to rapidly restore connectivity.
Flightwin’s flagship heavy-lift unmanned helicopter is available in two configurations: an internal cargo version and an external hoisting version. The platform offers a range exceeding 600 kilometers and a service ceiling of over 6,500 meters, allowing it to operate across mountainous terrain. The hoisting variant is aimed at industrial users, including power utilities and offshore oil and gas companies, enabling the transport of heavy equipment or fuel to remote installations.
With its focus on high-payload unmanned aviation, Flightwin aims to address growing regional demand for logistics, disaster relief and industrial support, leveraging unmanned systems to operate where conventional transport solutions face limitations.
