Eve Air Mobility, in cooperation with InvestSP, organized a high-level meeting in São Paulo to advance discussions on the regulatory and operational framework for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in Brazil. The summit gathered representatives from government authorities, environmental and safety agencies, and industry leaders to outline the steps required for commercial eVTOL operations, planned to begin in 2027.
The discussions focused on regulation, vertiport and charging infrastructure, and workforce training for the emerging Urban Air Mobility (UAM) sector. “This meeting reinforces our commitment to working side by side with authorities and strategic partners to enable the safe and efficient operation of eVTOL in Brazil,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility. “We are advancing not only in the development of the aircraft but also in building a complete ecosystem that includes infrastructure, regulation and workforce training.”
Eve’s eVTOL will be produced in Taubaté, São Paulo state, at a facility capable of manufacturing up to 480 units annually. The company has secured around 2,800 global orders, including firm contracts and letters of intent, valued at approximately US$14 billion. The aircraft will accommodate five people—one pilot and four passengers—and offer a range of up to 100 kilometers.
Thiago Camargo, Executive Vice President of InvestSP, emphasized the importance of the initiative’s location: “Eve chose the right place for eVTOL production: the state with the largest economy, strong infrastructure, skilled labor and a business environment favorable to innovation. Our goal now is to promote strategic integration between the public and private sectors to ensure that operations are safe, viable and sustainable.”
Eve also highlighted the aircraft’s potential to reduce travel times on key urban routes, such as between São Paulo’s southern district and Guarulhos International Airport, from 150 minutes by land to about 15 minutes by air. According to Luiz Mauad, Vice President of Customer Services at Eve, “The eVTOL has the potential to transform not only passenger transport but also sectors such as tourism, public safety and healthcare.”
