South Korea and Estonia have signed an agreement for the delivery of the South Korean-made Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system, marking a new stage in defense cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Seoul by South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back and Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, according to a report by Yonhap News citing the South Korean Defense Ministry. Specific details, including the number of systems to be delivered and the contract’s financial scope, were not immediately made public.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX), which runs through Friday. During their talks, both ministers discussed ways to expand collaboration in defense technology and the arms industry.
The two sides also agreed to deepen bilateral defense exchanges through high-level visits, joint military training, and cooperation in cybersecurity.
The Chunmoo, developed by Hanwha Aerospace, is a modular multiple launch rocket system capable of firing various types of guided and unguided rockets. Estonia’s acquisition of the system is expected to enhance its long-range strike capabilities within NATO’s northeastern flank.
