The spokesperson from the RAF highlighted that the equipment is &#8220;critical in mitigating the risk to life posed by the drone threat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to provide British and coalition forces with the capabilities they need to carry out their mission and to keep people and society safe,\u201d said Andy Fraser, Group Managing Director at Saab UK.<\/p>\n<p>The Giraffe 1X radar systems have been integrated into the RAF\u2019s wider counter-drone architecture, supporting the detection, tracking, and engagement of airborne threats. The capability complements the RAF Regiment\u2019s ongoing role in providing counter-UAS protection for UK and coalition forces, including operations in the Middle East, where specialist teams continue to protect personnel and facilities from drone threats.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Saab<\/span><\/span> UK <a href=\"https:\/\/defensehere.com\/en\/saab-uk-receives-order-for-giraffe-1x-radar-systems\/\">received<\/a> an order from the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">UK Ministry of Defense<\/span><\/span> for the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Giraffe 1X radar system<\/span><\/span> in April 2026.
