Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ) and Germany\u2019s Rheinmetall have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to pursue strategic cooperation in the production of support vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces. The agreement sets the framework for creating a joint venture that will establish a European Support Vehicles Center in Poland.<\/p>\n
Under the MoU, the companies plan to produce Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Armoured Engineering Vehicles with mine-breaching capability, and Armoured Vehicle-Launched Bridges. The initiative is presented as part of wider European efforts to strengthen defense capabilities amid heightened security concerns in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n
Rheinmetall, a major supplier of armored tracked and wheeled vehicles and the original designer of the Keiler NG armored breaching vehicle, already operates in Poland through its subsidiary Rheinmetall Polska Sp. z o.o. PGZ, a state-owned holding company, unites Poland\u2019s key defense enterprises under government ownership.<\/p>\n
Dr. Bj\u00f6rn Bernhard, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Vehicle Systems Europe, said the MoU reflects shared goals and the intent to work closely:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe MoU symbolizes our mutual understanding, aligned goals, and the intention to work closely together \u2013 to exchange knowledge, to harness our collective strengths, and to explore new opportunities. By signing the MoU, we not only open the door towards an extension of Poland\u2019s heavy vehicles manufacturing capability but also contribute to building an all-European defence potential, new multi-nation partnerships, capabilities redundancy, and multinational supply chains.\u201d<\/p>\n
PGZ CEO Adam Leszkiewicz emphasized that the cooperation fits into PGZ\u2019s broader international strategy:<\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of building the global PGZ brand, we prioritize diversifying our international associates, and Rheinmetall is a proven partner and a key European defence company. The agreement will open the way to expand our collaboration to include additional solutions, including those we can jointly offer to external markets. This agreement is also important for the Wojskowe Zak\u0142ady Motoryzacyjne and, potentially, H. Cegielski plant, both from Pozna\u0144. It offers business development opportunities and demonstrates product diversification within the PGZ Group. Companies located in Pozna\u0144 are very important to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new center is expected to enhance Poland\u2019s industrial capacity in heavy vehicle production and contribute to a more integrated European defense manufacturing network.<\/p>\n
