The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) featured UAE-made NIMR AJBAN 442A armored vehicles during its 133rd Anniversary Parade held in the capital Malé, marking a growing defense partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives.
EDGE Group, the parent company of NIMR, confirmed the deployment of the high-mobility tactical vehicles, stating:
“As a strategic defence partner to the Maldives, we have delivered high-mobility AJBAN 442A vehicles to the MNDF, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to supporting our partners across the region with mission-ready solutions.”
The AJBAN 442A is a 4×4 armored platform built for operations in rugged environments. It is designed for various missions including troop transport and command-and-control, and it can be outfitted with modular armor and tailored payloads.
The deployment underscores the UAE’s expanding role in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region, particularly amid increasing attention to maritime and territorial security. The Maldives, in turn, has taken steps in recent years to improve its defense capabilities in areas such as coastal surveillance, mobility, and rapid response.
