U.S. Army awards L3Harris $300M contract for Manpack and Leader Radios

The U.S. Army has awarded L3Harris Technologies nearly $300 million in full-rate production orders for Manpack and Leader radios under the HMS program.

These orders continue the expansion of vital communication solutions for U.S. soldiers, ensuring interoperability across operational environments and resilience against adversarial electronic warfare attacks.

“Resilient communication is crucial for operational tempo, and our solutions enable comms-on-the-move for Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control,” said Sam Mehta, President, Communication Systems, L3Harris. “Our systems are designed to keep up with emerging threats, giving commanders increased flexibility.”

The company’s AN/PRC-158 and AN/PRC-163 radios offer dual encryption capabilities, enabling secure communication with coalition partners, meeting NSA encryption standards.

This new award follows $247 million in production orders from 2023. The company is also delivering Mobile User Objective System-capable radios for MQ-1C Gray Eagle UAS and CH-47 Chinook helicopters under the Air-to-Ground Networking Radio program.
