Leading Turkey's journey in space technologies with remarkable achievements, Türksat celebrates its 17th anniversary today.
Türksat's history goes back much further than its establishment date. Türksat has become a world brand with its breakthroughs in recent years.
Türksat's journey began with the establishment of "Peyk (satellite) Telecommunication Group Chief Engineering" by PTT General Directorate in 1968.
Then on April 24, 1995 Türk Telekomünikasyon AŞ which was established and all satellites related services were transferred to it. The Satellite communication services carried out by Türk Telekomünikasyon AŞ were then transferred to Türksat AŞ, after being established on July 22, 2004.
With the establishment of Türksat, Turkey has become an important player in the fields of communication, satellites and other space technologies.
On 13 June 2008, Türksat 3A communication satellite was launched into space.
On April 26, 2013, Turkey's first domestically designed and manufactured low-orbit communications satellite Türksat-3USAT was launched into space.
On February 14, 2014, the Türksat 4A communication satellite was launched into space.
On October 16, 2015, the Türksat 4B communication satellite was launched into space.
On January 8, 2021, the Türksat 5A communication satellite was launched into space.
Türksat 5B communication satellite is planned to be launched in the last quarter of 2021.
The Türksat 6A communication satellite, which will be produced at the Space Systems Integration and Test (USET) Center, is expected to be launched into space in 2022.
