The construction of Türksat 5A started after Türksat AŞ and Airbus D&S signed a contract on November 9, 2017.

After a journey that took about 4 months to reach 31 degrees east orbit, the satellite controls were transferred to Gölbaşı satellite control station with the completion of orbital tests and the satellite started service on June 28, 2021.
