Mechanical and Chemical Industry Inc. (MKE) was established in March 15, 1950 under the name of Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation in order to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.
MKE, which had been carrying out its activities under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in its inception in 1950, was transferred to the control of the Ministry of National Defense in 2000.
MKE was among Turkey’s Top 100 Industrial Enterprises in 2019.
In 2020, the company ranked 4th among defense industry organizations in Turkey and 7th among public industry organizations.
Transformation of the institution into a joint stock company
With a law published in Turkey’s Official Gazette dated 03.07.2021, the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation was transformed into a joint stock company, which is entirely owned by the Ministry of Treasury with ties to the Ministry of National Defense.
