Sweden has finalized the procurement of 18 ARCHER mobile howitzers from BAE Systems as part of its 18th support package to Ukraine. This decision was confirmed by Swedish Minister for Defence, Dr. Pål Jonson, during a recent visit to BAE Systems’ Bofors facility in Karlskoga, Sweden.
The ARCHER mobile howitzers are accompanied by five artillery location radar systems and additional funding, totaling approximately $300 million. This move continues Sweden’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Lena Gillström, president of BAE Systems Bofors, stated, “We are pleased to continue to provide the Swedish Government with the most advanced wheeled howitzers to complete their mission.” She added, “The ARCHER is one of the most trusted artillery systems in the world, and its proven performance on the battlefield further reinforces this.”
In addition to the howitzers, BAE Systems also presented the Tridon Mk2 Ground-Based Air Defence System as part of the same support package.
