South Korea plans to spend about $266 billion on the defense industry over 5 years against the North Korean threat.
According to Yonhap, South Korea's Ministry of Defense announced its medium-term defense plan covering the 2024-2028 period.
Accordingly, South Korea has allocated a budget of about $ 266 billion to "strengthen the defense industry of the army against North Korea's military threats."
Within the budget, it is planned to develop defense capabilities and maintain equipment.
The medium-term defense plan also includes several defense objectives, such as acquiring military reconnaissance satellites and deploying more submarines.
