Singapore orders two more submarines from Thyssenkrupp

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems has received an order extension from Singapore for two additional submarines of the Invincible class (also known as Type 218SG).

The contract was signed at the IMDEX Asia 2025 exhibition in Singapore.

The order adds to the four submarines previously contracted in 2013 and 2017.

Singapore’s Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius were present at the signing ceremony.

CEO Oliver Burkhard stated: “This order is a sign of the decades-long partnership between Singapore and Germany. We are proud to contribute to Singapore’s national security.”
