Rheinmetall has expanded its maintenance capabilities for defense vehicles in Australia’s Northern Territory and Queensland, strengthening its support for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and enhancing sovereign industrial capacity.
Through a partnership with RGM Maintenance, Rheinmetall Defence Australia has delivered Medium Heavy Capability (MHC) introduction and maintenance training. The training certifies RGM’s personnel to the same standards as Australian Army staff servicing Rheinmetall MAN HX logistic vehicles at Robertson Barracks.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to regional sustainment capability development as outlined in Australia’s Defence Strategy Review,” said Joern Buelter, General Manager Logistic Vehicles at Rheinmetall Defence Australia.
RGM, Rheinmetall’s certified in-region repairer since 2022, has now expanded its certified maintenance workforce across Darwin, Townsville, and Rockhampton, strengthening sustainment support for the growing HX vehicle fleet.
Rheinmetall’s regional expansion complements its main Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Ipswich, Queensland, ensuring maintenance support across Australia.
In February 2025, Rheinmetall successfully completed the LAND 121 3B/5B program, delivering over 3,000 HX trucks and 3,000 modules on time and on budget to the ADF.
The HX Truck fleet supports critical military logistics with capabilities such as load handling systems, cranes, tankers, and artillery system carriers, operating reliably in extreme temperatures and conditions.
