Rheinmetall acquires ammunition recovery firm Stascheit GmbH

Rheinmetall has acquired Stascheit GmbH, a company specializing in the detection and recovery of explosive ordnance, in a move to expand its capabilities in security-related solutions. The Gardelegen-based firm will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH.

Stascheit’s core business includes the detection, analysis, recovery, and disposal of unexploded ordnance (UXO), archaeological prospection, contaminated site investigations, and associated diving and recovery operations. The acquisition strengthens Rheinmetall’s offering in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), allowing it to provide integrated services from a single source.

The companies have previously worked together on several projects, including UXO detection in the North Sea during offshore wind farm maintenance, and the clearance of munition-contaminated zones before subsea cable installations in the Baltic Sea and Spain.

Rheinmetall expects the acquisition to generate an annual turnover of approximately €80 million in the medium term. The move enhances the company’s strategic position in the defence and security sector.

“With the acquisition of Stascheit GmbH, we are strengthening our position in the field of security-related solutions and expanding our portfolio with key capabilities,” said Dr. Deniz Akitürk, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH. “We look forward to working with Stascheit’s talented team and providing innovative solutions for our national and international customers.”

Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH will continue to build on its established cooperation with Stascheit to improve safety and operational efficiency in ammunition disposal and support defence and security efforts.
