Repkon among few to use key tech for defense, aerospace industry

After initially establishing itself as an R&D center, Repkon, a defense company based in Istanbul, has successfully transitioned into manufacturing critical components for the Turkish defense industry, thereby reducing dependency on foreign imports.

“We were founded in 1978, and we have nearly 50 years of experience in machine production. Over the last ten years, we've taken critical steps” to meet the needs of rapidly growing industries worldwide, said Yasemin Oral Duman, Head of Strategic Planning and Corporate Communications at Repkon, speaking to DefenseHere.

Her statements were made on the sidelines of Eurosatory, one of the largest defense industry gatherings held in the French capital, Paris.

Duman explained that their trademark is flow forming technology, “an advanced cold metal forming technology that enables the production of highly precise and symmetrical cylinders.”

“With this technology,” Duman said, “we serve the defense and aerospace industry.”

“Türkiye is one of the four countries in the world that has this technology available, of which we're very proud. We continue to serve not only our country but also the rest of the world with it,” she said.

“In addition to that, we have our line of grenade launchers, which is always a huge hit at every event with their precise mechanisms and excellent quality,” Duman said.

Regarding Eurosatory, Duman noted that they had the opportunity to meet with many customers and partners from around the world and hosted delegations at their booth. On the products they showcased, she said, “The biggest hit at this event has been our 155-millimeter artillery shells. The production line capability has received a lot of interest from various countries around the world, which we're very excited about.”

She also mentioned that Repkon has recently acquired one of the largest explosive and ammunition equipment production companies worldwide, “so more to come on that in the future.”
