Türkiye and Malaysia signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding on Government-to-Government Procurement of Defence Products' and presented the 'Letter of Acceptance' for three corvettes to be built by STM.
This is the first time Malaysia has signed a G2G Memorandum of Understanding with a country for the procurement of defense products.
The three ships, which will be designed to meet the requirements of the Royal Malaysian Navy, will be built in Türkiye, with STM as the main contractor. The Turkish defense industry continues to grow by expanding its cooperation with friendly and allied countries. The ceremony, which took place at the Defense Industry Agency (SSB), was attended by Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Defence Industries; Prof. Dr. İhsan Kaya, Mustafa Murat Şeker, Hüseyin Avşar and Gökhan Uçar, Vice Presidents of Defence Industries; delegations from the Malaysian Ministry of Defence and the Malaysian Ministry of Interior; and industry representatives.
