Indra has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific air traffic management (ATM) market by securing a new contract in Indonesia to upgrade the country’s air traffic management systems. The contract was awarded by Indonesia’s air navigation service provider.
As part of the project, Indra will implement its ManagAir automation solution, a widely used system in control centers and airports worldwide, to replace the current ATM system in Jakarta, one of Indonesia’s two control centers. The modernization will improve the management of more than half of the country’s airspace, enhancing flight efficiency through 4D trajectory calculations, which allow for more accurate and optimized routes. These improvements will contribute to sustainable aviation by reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Indra will also deploy its GAREX IP voice communication systems to enhance communication between air traffic controllers, pilots, and other aviation stakeholders. The fully digital solution ensures high sound quality and security.
Additionally, Indra has been awarded a contract to renovate approach air traffic management systems in Balikpapan, Medan, and Pontianak.
“With this contract, we are taking another step in advancing air traffic management systems in Asia-Pacific, a region that increasingly relies on Indra’s technology and its capability to implement flexible and highly secure solutions,” said Víctor Martínez, Executive Vice President of ATM at Indra. “The development of this project in Jakarta is a key milestone in the Leading the Future Strategic Plan for the ATM business.”
Indra’s ATM technology is also deployed across the Asia-Pacific region, including three of India’s four air traffic control centers, Vietnam, where Indra is upgrading Ho Chi Minh’s air traffic management system, and key airspaces such as Chengdu in China and Incheon in South Korea. Indra’s solutions are also used in Mongolia and the Philippines.
Indra has equipped over 11,000 air traffic facilities globally and is among the few companies capable of managing flights gate-to-gate, from takeoff to landing. The company plays a critical role in passenger safety, supporting air travel worldwide with its state-of-the-art ATM solutions.
