BD Director UK & Ireland, Rohan DEARLOVE, made the following statement on the companies’ strategy for the UK:
“We can see that the demand is increasing and that puts us HENSOLDT’s strategy for the UK was basically formulated through the acquisition of Kelvin Hughes and we worked on it since then. Essentially, we’re bringing best of breed capability from whether it be Germany, France, South Africa in addition to our domestic capability and we are supporting that, we’re integrating it, we’re conducting local manufacture and through life support of those systems in the UK. DSEI is an excellent, excellent exhibition for us because we’re able, due to the size of our stand, to actually present a number of capabilities that are relatively new to market. So, in the air domain we’re taking a commercial off the shelf airborne computing system called CaviMission and the plan is that we would utilise our resources and SQEP in the UK to militarise that system for military helicopters. In the land domain we have a system called SETAS which which stands for Se Through Armour System, and this is essentially a Local Situational Awareness System for armoured vehicles to provide 360 coverage and also there’s a high degree of elevation so when progressing through urban canyons for instance you can actually spot the threat at a high angle.
Now in the UK we’re taking again, we’re taking if you like the vanilla system that is designed in Germany, and we are providing the UK customization and also utilizing our supply chain. And in the naval domain we have a radar which actually was launched at DSEI two years ago called QUADOME and QUADOME is absolutely cutting-edge 3D air surveillance radar and we’re offering that into a number of programmes, UK and internationally and lots of the support work, all the contracting programme management documentation would all be run out of our HQ in Enfield. “
