German army is set to receive MBDA’s Brimstone missiles

Multi-national European group, MBDA, has been awarded a contract by Germany to produce and deliver Brimstone 3 precision strike missiles for the Bundeswehr’s Eurofighter fighter jets, the company said in a recent press release.

Accordingly, MBDA will establish a final assembly line and service center dedicated to Brimstone at its Schrobenhausen facility in a move to strengthen European industrial cooperation.

MBDA CEO Eric Béranger, said: “The procurement of Brimstone 3 by Germany is a decisive contribution to the harmonisation of armaments in Europe and the Bundeswehr's ammunition stockpile.”

“The new production line is the first of its kind outside the UK and demonstrates the value of the MBDA cooperation model in ensuring the sovereign supply of critical European defence capabilities,” he was quoted as saying by the press release.

Brimstone 3 is a tactical precision strike missile known for its exceptional combat-proven accuracy, effectiveness, and reliability.

It allows military forces to target both stationary and fast-moving objectives with pinpoint precision regardless of weather conditions. Brimstone 3 is also being adapted for use on unmanned aerial vehicles like the Eurodrone and MQ-9B, and it serves as a viable armament choice for land vehicles, helicopters, and large unmanned vehicles.
