Thales states they have been established in Thailand, employing 700 people and equipped 80 per cent of Thailand’s navy.
Nicolas Bernardin, Director of Thales in Thailand said in an interview with DefenseHere they had a long history with the Royal Thai armed forces. Excerpts from the interview are as follows:
“Royal Thai Navy is one of our largest customers and we have equipped almost 80% of the Royal Thai fleet, especially providing combat management system and all type of sensors, radars, optronics, sonars, communications.
“So recently Thales has modernized two minehunters, integrating state of the art of the sonars. At the same time, we have also delivered a combat management system and all the sensors for the OPV. Thales today is really to support the Royal Thai Navy in modernization of its fleet, especially for the Pattani-class project, and by providing the state-of-the-art technology for the frigate number two [Naresuan-class] and for the LPD number 2 (HTMS Chang)”
