Embraer will participate in the Avalon Australian International Airshow from March 25 to 30, 2025, highlighting its commercial and business aviation portfolio. The company’s footprint in Australia is set to expand with the scheduled delivery of eight E190-E2 aircraft to Virgin Australia this year.
Currently, nearly 50 Embraer E-Jets and 20 business jets operate across Australasia. The region hosts one of the largest E-Jet fleets in the Asia-Pacific market, with operators including Alliance Airlines, Airnorth, National Jet Express, and Air Kiribati. Alliance Airlines, the largest E-Jet operator in Australia, provides domestic services for Qantas.
In 2024, Virgin Australia placed a firm order for eight E190-E2s as part of its fleet renewal strategy. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, with the aircraft based in Perth, Western Australia.
The E190-E2 features aerodynamic improvements, a redesigned wing, and new technologies aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The aircraft is certified to operate with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends of up to 50% and has demonstrated compatibility with 100% SAF in test flights. Full certification for 100% SAF operations is expected by 2030.
Embraer will also showcase its Defense & Security portfolio at Avalon, including the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft. The KC-390 has been in service with the Brazilian Air Force since 2019, followed by the Portuguese and Hungarian Air Forces in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The aircraft has demonstrated high operational performance, with a mission capability rate of 93% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%.
The KC-390 has gained interest from multiple countries. The Netherlands selected the aircraft in 2022, while Austria, the Czech Republic, and South Korea followed in 2023. In 2024, Sweden, Slovakia, and an undisclosed customer also placed orders.
Embraer has maintained a presence in Australia since 1978, marking 47 years since the first Bandeirante aircraft entered service in the country.
