Embraer delivers first C-390 Millennium to Czech Air Force

Embraer has delivered the first C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft to the Czech Air Force, just 20 months after Prague signed the acquisition contract, marking a key milestone in the country’s effort to modernize its airlift capabilities.

The aircraft was handed over during a ceremony at Prague Kbely Air Base attended by Czech defense officials and Embraer executives. It is the first of two C-390 aircraft ordered by the Czech Republic.

The C-390 will provide the Czech Air Force with a new medium airlift capability for transporting troops, vehicles and oversized cargo while supporting NATO operations, humanitarian missions and disaster relief.

Embraer said the delivery highlights the company’s ability to rapidly deliver aircraft to customers. The Brazilian manufacturer also noted that Czech industry has contributed to the C-390 program since its early development.

Designed as a multi-role military transport aircraft, the C-390 can carry up to 26 tonnes of payload and perform missions including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, aerial firefighting and air-to-air refueling. The aircraft is also capable of operating from austere and unpaved runways.

The Czech Republic joins a growing group of C-390 operators and customers that includes Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Slovakia, Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
