Egypt, France Conduct Joint Naval Drills in Mediterranean Sea

Egyptian and French naval forces carried out, on Wednesday, joint naval drills in the Mediterranean Sea, with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Taba” and the French frigate “Languedoc”, local media reported.

Tamer Al-Rifaie, Egyptian Armed Forces spokesperson, said the Egyptian-French naval drills aim to deepen the exchange of experiences between the armed forces of the two friendly countries.

Al-Rifaie added that different exercises have been implemented, including training on combat formations in the sea.

He explained that this training is the second of its kind in a short period of time, stressing the importance of these joint exercises in enhancing the military cooperation between the two countries, and preserving security and stability in the region.

In early November, the Egyptian and French naval forces carried out military drills in the Mediterranean Sea, with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Taba” and the French frigate “Jean Bart”.

On 15 November, Egypt and Sudan also launched joint military exercises to boost security ties between the Nile Basin neighbors.

The exercises run by Egyptian and Sudanese commando and air forces were the first joint combat training held since the ouster of Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir last year.
