Boeing has achieved another key milestone in the F-15EX Eagle II program with the successful test flight of the ninth aircraft, designated EX-09. This historic achievement was documented in a video released by Boeing Defense on their official X platform account.
After the test flight, EX-09 will undergo painting before entering the acceptance testing phase. Once completed, it will be assigned to the 142nd Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard, making it the first operational unit to transition to the F-15EX Eagle II.
The Oregon Air National Guard is already operating two F-15EX aircraft, EX-07 and EX-08, from the initial batch. Boeing is under contract to supply 48 units across three production batches, fulfilling the U.S. Department of Defense’s needs for this advanced fighter.
In addition to fulfilling U.S. requirements, Boeing is preparing for the delivery of 25 F-15IA aircraft for Israel. Indonesia is also set to finalize a deal for 24 F-15EX aircraft later this year, expanding the global footprint of the Eagle II.
Evaluations from the U.S. Department of Defense have been favorable, with reports indicating that the F-15EX Eagle II meets all expected operational requirements. The aircraft’s advanced systems, including its ability to detect fifth-generation aircraft, have been particularly highlighted. These positive reviews may lead to further orders, possibly exceeding the current total of 108 planned aircraft.
