U.S. defense and aerospace companies Anduril Industries and Hermeus have announced a partnership to integrate Anduril’s mission autonomy software into the Quarterhorse Mk 2 high-speed uncrewed aerial system (UAS).
Under the agreement, Anduril’s Lattice for Mission Autonomy will serve as the primary software engine for mission planning and execution on the Quarterhorse Mk 2 platform. According to a joint statement released by the companies, the integration aims to equip the high-Mach aircraft with the ability to autonomously adapt to changing flight conditions, coordinate with other assets, and conduct complex collaborative operations alongside human-crewed platforms.
For Anduril, the agreement marks the first time its Lattice autonomy software will be integrated into a large-scale, third-party aircraft outside of its own Fury UAS. This milestone is intended to validate the software’s viability and performance on an independent airframe operating in a high-speed environment.
The companies noted that the collaboration aligns with broader U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force initiatives, which increasingly prioritize modular, interoperable systems that allow hardware and software architectures to be developed, integrated, and upgraded independently.
Engineering teams from both companies have commenced work to integrate the Lattice software with the Quarterhorse platform. The first test flight of the combined system is scheduled for 2027 to evaluate the software’s performance during high-Mach operations.
