Turkey’s Otokar wins bus tender in Jordan

Turkey’s leading land systems and bus manufacturer Otokar announced Wednesday that the company has won a major bus tender in Jordan for a total of 136 buses.

The contract includes 100 Vectio models and 36 Kent models for the transportation needs of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the Jordanian capital.

The company provides modern buses with ultimate comfort in public transportation for millions of passengers in more than 50 countries.

“The vehicles that Otokar manufactures with 58 years of industry experience are highly admired for their design, ergonomics, and technology, and used in countries, including Turkey, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany,” it said.

The company noted that the tender for 136 public transportation buses is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

“The contract, amounting to approximately $32 million including VAT and other taxes, includes the maintenance of these buses and training of bus drivers for 2 years,” it said, adding:

“Deliveries of the vehicles are foreseen to be completed until the end 2022.

With this contract, the number of Otokar-branded buses operating in GAM will reach 271.
