At Euronaval 2024, Damen Shipyards Group’s Director of Strategy and Innovation, Richard Keulen, shared insights into the company’s activities and showcased its diverse capabilities. Kaulen explained that the ASW program represents a significant milestone for modern European defense cooperation. “For the first time in the history of the European Union, we are running a program of this complexity for two nations – Belgium and the Netherlands. Both countries’ navies are receiving identical ASW frigates, setting a potential standard for other nations to accelerate the integration of essential anti-submarine capabilities,” he stated.
Beyond Europe, Damen’s global outreach includes partnerships in regions such as Mexico and Colombia, where it collaborates on local-build programs for corvettes and frigates. “Our strong legacy of local builds enables us to work with various partners worldwide, allowing client nations to construct ships in their own facilities while adopting custom designs and systems,” Kaulen added.

The company works with international providers of weaponry and communication systems, ensuring tailored solutions for its customers. “We give our clients the flexibility to select equipment and concepts that best suit their needs.
