Merkava Barak, Israel’s 5th generation main battle tank was officially introduced by the Israeli Defense Ministry and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The firsty party of the tanks have been delivered to the 52nd Armored Battalion of the 401st Brigade, following a five-year development process.
The 5th generation Merkava tank, also named Barak, is equipped with Elbit Systems’ extensive solutions that include improved sights, advanced night vision capabilities, Fire Control Systems for Main Battle Tanks (MBT), E-LynX Software-Defined Radios (SDR), and the IronVision™ Head-Mounted Display for 360° situational awareness and advanced operational capabilities.
