Paulius Almintas, CEO of Baltic Viper, and Dr Mindaugas Varanauskas, CTO, spoke to Defensehere.com.
Lithuania based Baltic Viper focuses on FPV drones, radio communication systems and tactical training for UAV pilots. “We are a company from Lithuania. We are FPV drones and radio communication systems manufacturer. We also provide tactical training for UAV pilots,” Paulius Almintas said.
Almintas said the firm was founded after the full scale war in Ukraine began, driven by urgent demand and prior volunteer work. He added that more than 80% of production goes to Ukraine and that staff ship equipment weekly and conduct on site training there. “Everything what you see here is battlefield proven,” he said.
The CEO described the company as young and expanding. “Drones, communication systems and training. At the moment this is our main focus. In future we would like to expand our portfolio,” Almintas said, adding the company is seeking partners across Europe and beyond to integrate FPV systems into conventional force structures and doctrines.
Varanauskas introduced a recent platform, a 30 inch drone that can carry about 4 to 5 kilograms depending on configuration. He said the platform can operate up to 30 kilometres via an optical wire, which he argued reduces vulnerability to jamming and interception compared with radio links. “When it’s optical wire, then you cannot anti jam the drone, so you cannot intercept,” Varanauskas said.
He framed the sector as rapidly evolving. “The drone is right now like the planes in the First World War. We’re evolving each month, each week,” Varanauskas said. He also gave a battlefield efficiency estimate: “Usually one euro invested in the drone destroys 100 euro on the battlefield,” he said.
Baltic Viper is also working with customers and training partners in Estonia Germany Italy Netherlands Japan and the United States while maintaining regular deliveries to Ukraine. The firm said it is developing larger platforms alongside its tactical FPV range.
