Turkish defense industry is working on the development of two new unmanned sea vehicles.
Turkish defense firms Aselsan and Sefine Shipyard have joined forces to develop unmanned sea vehicles. The vehicles are destined to carry out autonomous reconnaissance-intelligence missions, besides being used in surface warfare, underwater warfare and the protection of bases/ports/critical facilities and high-value floating platforms.
At a ceremony held at Sefine Shipyard, the block assembly process of an autonomous unmanned sea vehicle equipped with swarm intelligence and capable of carrying out surface warfare, was initiated.
At the same ceremony the steel cutting of an autonomous unmanned sea vehicle, equipped with swarm intelligence and developed for anti-submarine warfare, was carried out.
Both vehicles can reach speeds exceeding 40 knots (74 kilometers per hour). The vehicles have a range of more than 600 nautical miles, and they can serve for about 4 days without the need for resupply. They will be able to perform in challenging sea conditions with high maneuverability and speed.
For surface warfare, the sea vehicles will be equipped by ROKETSAN's tactical missile system and ASELSAN's Stabilized Remote Controlled Weapon System (STAMP). These systems will enable the vehicles to provide autonomous protection of bases, ports, critical facilities and floating platforms in the event of surface warfare.
