San Antonio, Texas, has been a vital military aircraft support center for over 25 years. The Boeing Aerospace Support Center, which opened in 1998, has been instrumental in supporting the maintenance and modification of various aircraft, including the C-17, F/A-18, F-15 EPAWSS, KC-135, B-52, and the Executive Fleet.
Today, the San Antonio team has delivered over 2,200 refurbished aircraft. The commitment to the site began with the opening of the site in 1998, welcoming then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush and the first C-17 Globemaster.
The team works on assessing an aircraft's needs, and completing modifications such as washing, stripping paint, removing flight controls, thrust reversers, and main landing gear. The facility has also undergone site development, including the opening of a new 124,000 square-foot hangar in 2001 and the addition of an on-site cafeteria in 2010.
To celebrate its 25th year, Boeing partnered with the Kelly Heritage Foundation to expand STEM learning and workforce development in South Texas. Additionally, the company sponsored Port San Antonio's new 130,000-square-foot multi-purpose exhibition center, the Boeing Center at Tech Port. This partnership and investment in San Antonio reflect Boeing's commitment to the community and supporting U.S. and allied military services.
