Developed by Meteksan Defence, MILSAR has been using by Turkish Armed Forces.
In an interview with Defensehere.com, Tolga M. Çelik, Meteksan Radar Systems Business Development Director, explained Meteksan's MILSAR radar system.
What is MILSAR?
"MILSAR is an airborne SAR MTI radar. We are using this system in UAV platforms and manned aircraft platforms. It provides ground images to users with the help of the system over the clouds. It is in use by Turkish Armed Forces and its already exported to abroad. This is a defense industry agencies' project. It is an R&D project. It was an R&D project and this is an outcome of that project. It is in use. We are providing synthetic aperture radar images to our users with the help of this radar system." he said.
"This radar system is in use by AKSUNGUR and ANKA platforms of TAI. Also, it is exported with these platforms. As I said, in Turkish Armed Forces and in allied countries armed forces, this system will be used in very near future." he added.
A solution for the floating mines
"Actually, there was a problem of Turkey, floating mines from Ukraine to Turkish costs. Our navy gave us a responsibility and mission to find those mines. We made a flight with TAI and Turkish Navy and found that floating mines in Black Sea." Çelik, Meteksan Radar Systems Business Development Director, explained.
"Actually, this system can be exported and can be used in any aircraft's platform. It can be either lands or lands. So yes, there is a possibility to export individually of this radar system to both users and manufacturers of aircraft systems." he said.
"Actually, we have decided to use this system in tactical wise, but we are planning to expand our range and also we are planning to add some functionalities to enable users to use the system more effective. So that's in near future, we will have an updated version of this radar system." he concluded.
