FNSS has delivered 9 Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicles (ZAHA) to the Turkish Navy and will modernize the Enhanced Armored Personnel Carriers (GZPT), which entered the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) 20 years ago, with the aim of preparing them for the next 20 years.
“ZAHA Delivery Ceremony and GZPT Modernization Project Signature Program" was held at FNSS' Ankara Gölbaşı facility with the participation of Defense Industry Agency President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir.
The "GZPT Modernization Project" contract was signed between the SSB and FNSS at the ceremony, which was held with the participation of the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), Defense Industry Agency (SSB), TAF, defense sector representatives and the press.
52 GZPTs to be modernized
52 amphibious GZPTs with 305 horsepower currently in the Land Forces Command's inventory will be modernized with new technology subsystems as part of the project, which will be carried out by FNSS as the main contractor.
The aim of the GZPT Modernization Project is to make it possible for the GZPTs, which FNSS delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in the early 2000s and since served in numerous operations, to serve with higher performance for at least 20 years.
Marine Power Multiplier ZAHA Enters Inventory
In order to meet the armored amphibious vehicle needs of the Turkish Naval Forces Command (DzKK), 9 ZAHA vehicles developed within the scope of the Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle (ZAHA) Project carried out by the main contractor FNSS under the leadership of the SSB were delivered to the Amphibious Marine Brigade of the Naval Forces Command.
Within the scope of the project, a total of 27 vehicles developed by FNSS will be delivered, including 23 personnel carriers, 2 command and control vehicles and 2 rescue vehicles.
The dual-armed ÇAKA Remote Controlled Weapon System, designed by FNSS within the scope of the project, will provide amphibious troops with an important capability in terms of providing additional firepower to already armor protected personnel within ZAHA.
