Sarsılmaz Deputy General Manager Öner Özyılmaz introduced Turkiye's indiginous 20mm nose-mounted cannon for T129 ATAK helicopter at SAHA EXPO 2022.
Mr. Özyılmaz stated that TR MEKATRONİK, started with collaboration between Sarsılmaz and Turkish Aerospace, established back in 2018 has now started manufacturing the gatling gun for the ATAK helicopter and said:
"We at Sarsilmaz have been manufacturing old of these products for 150 years. With the growth of Turkiye together with Sarsilmaz we have established a new company called TR MEKATRONİK back in 2018 with Turkish Aerospace Industries.
So with the power of these two companies Sarsilmaz and Turkish Aerospace Industries, TR MEKATRONİK has prototyped and now started manufacturing and testing of these 20mm gatling guns for ATAK helicopter.
At this 20mm gatling gun system, all mechanical parts, electronics, software and all units have been manufactured by Turkish engineers in Turkiye. So, we are proudly now testing and installing these gatling guns to ATAK helicopter.
Qualification process is now scheduled for the end of this year and we will hopefully see these gatling guns, Turkish made gatling guns, on ATAK helicopters hopefully next year."
