Russia marks the 77th anniversary of Victory Day with the annual military parade on May 9th at the Red Square in Moscow.
The parade is a commemoration of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Red Army, marking the end of the Eastern Front of World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.
Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, cabinet members, deputies, veterans and foreign dignitaries.
131 types of weapons and military technical vehicles were exhibited in the parade in the Red Square, in which 11 thousand soldiers participated.
Among the military vehicles and equipment on display were the third generation tank "Armata", the modernized T-72B3M tank, the short-range ballistic missile system "Iskender-M", the surface-to-air missile systems Buk-M3 and TOR-M2, the S-400 air defense system and intercontinental ballistic missile system "Yars".
The 122 millimeter "Tornado-G" multiple rocket launcher equipped with an automatic guidance and fire control system took part in the ceremony for the first time.
A total of 65 thousand soldiers, 2 thousand 400 types of weapons and military vehicles participated in the parades held in 28 cities for the May 9th Victory Day.
