Grenade launchers developed by Istanbul-based defense industry company REPKON Defence have been garnering significant attention at international fairs. These include the 40 mm Multiple Grenade Launcher and 40 mm Automatic Grenade Launcher, which are produced using groundbreaking flowforming technology, a first in the world.
Uğur Cem Gürpınar, REPKON Group Business Development Manager, conveyed to Defensehere.com that these weapons have demonstrated their efficacy in rigorous qualification tests conducted in collaboration with the Turkish Defense Industry Agency (SSB), the National Defense Ministry (MSB), and the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), establishing themselves as “100% domestic products with NSN codes.”
Gürpınar highlighted the user-friendly design of the RDS40-AGL 40 mm Automatic Grenade Launcher compared to its counterparts. He emphasized that this automatic grenade launcher stands out as its flowformed barrel feature, capable of firing 375 rounds per minute, compatible with all ammunition adhering to 40x53 mm NATO standards.
“The barrel utilized in the weapon is supplied by Repkon Production, a subsidiary of our group, and has successfully completed qualification tests with all ammunition present in the TAF inventory. It has undergone enhancements with numerous innovative designs, rendering it exceptionally user-friendly,” Gürpınar elaborated.
Regarding the RDS40-MGL 40 mm Multiple Grenade Launcher, Gürpınar pointed out its lightweight construction compared to counterparts, equipped with a steel barrel enabling compatibility with 40x46 and 40x51 mm ammunition conforming to NATO standards.
He disclosed ongoing efforts to integrate these weapons into land vehicles and indicated progress in exports since the previous year. Negotiations are underway for their deployment on various domestic platforms and by armed forces of other nations.
Gürpınar expressed anticipation for witnessing these weapons on new platforms soon, underscoring ongoing integration efforts for the RDS40-AGL 40 mm Automatic Grenade Launcher for land vehicles and the RDS40-MGL 40 mm Multiple Grenade Launcher for air vehicles.
