New defense industry agreements were signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan during ADEX 2026 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The total value of the procurement contracts and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries was reported to exceed $500 million.
Under the agreements aimed at developing defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, various procurement processes were initiated between leading Turkish defense industry companies and Azerbaijan.
These included a HÜRKUŞ procurement contract with TUSAŞ, a memorandum of understanding with ASELSAN regarding the procurement of ALP-100 radars, a procurement contract with BAYKAR for Mızrak smart loitering munitions, an Antidot procurement contract with BAYKAR, and a Barbaros coastal defense system procurement contract with ROKETSAN.
The agreements were said to be intended to help expand the two countries’ existing defense industry cooperation through new projects.
It was stated that the agreements were implemented within the framework of Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations maintained under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The agreements reached at ADEX 2026 were said to aim to deepen defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan across various fields, including aircraft, radar systems, smart munitions and coastal defense systems. The agreements, whose combined economic value was stated to exceed $500 million, were also intended to contribute to the defense industry capabilities of both countries.
