TRZ Hadžići showcases RPG-7MX2 modernization and defense capabilities in Sarajevo

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence industry showcased its domestic capabilities at the inaugural First Balkan Shield 2026, with the Technical Overhaul Institute Hadžići (TRZ Hadžići) presenting its RPG-7MX2 40mm grenade launcher.

Speaking to Defensehere during the exhibition, Berina Holjan, a technologist at TRZ Hadžići, highlighted the RPG-7MX2 as one of the company’s key infantry products.

Based on the proven RPG-7 design, the RPG-7MX2 incorporates updated manufacturing techniques and materials aimed at improving durability and service life. The launcher can be equipped with an optical sight and has an effective range of approximately 300 to 500 metres, depending on configuration and ammunition.

A key feature highlighted by TRZ Hadžići is its forged barrel, which the company says contributes to the launcher’s durability and longer operational lifespan.

The RPG-7MX2 has also been positioned for international markets. According to Holjan, the company has supplied the system to customers in Africa, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Croatia, while also exploring potential interest from Kuwait.

Defence manufacturing and overhaul

Founded in 1955, TRZ Hadžići has a long-standing role in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence industry. Its activities extend beyond weapon production to the maintenance and overhaul of tanks, howitzers and other military equipment, as well as protective equipment.

The company combines modern production equipment and quality-assurance processes with decades of technical expertise, supporting both manufacturing and maintenance activities.

For TRZ Hadžići, First Balkan Shield provided an opportunity to place its locally developed products in front of international defence companies and delegations.

The inaugural exhibition brought together 30 exhibitors from 15 countries, along with high-level international delegations, creating a platform for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence companies to expand their international visibility and pursue new partnerships.

The RPG-7MX2’s presence at the event highlighted the continued development of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s domestic defence manufacturing base and TRZ Hadžići’s ambitions to expand its products into additional international markets.
