According to a statement from the company, the delivery of the upgraded aircraft aims to provide advanced airpower to NATO and contribute to building a more connected and capable allied force across Europe. The F-16V (Viper) is the latest and most advanced production configuration of the fourth-generation fighter, featuring significant avionics enhancements.
The modernization effort is part of a broader program initiated by the Hellenic Air Force to upgrade a substantial portion of its existing legacy F-16 fleet to the Block 70/72 Viper standard. The upgrade integrates an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, a modern commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)-based avionics subsystem, a high-volume data bus, and a high-resolution center pedestal display.
The integration of the Viper standard is intended to extend the structural life of the aircraft while ensuring interoperability with allied forces and fifth-generation platforms currently operating within the NATO alliance.
