South Korean manufacturer Hanwha Aerospace announced on Thursday that it has signed a €411.8 million contract with the Croatian Ministry of Defense to supply the Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS).
The signing ceremony took place in Zagreb and was attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić, Republic of Korea Minister of National Defense Ahn Gyu-back, DAPA Minister Lee Yong-cheol, Korean Ambassador to Croatia Lee Seung-bum, and Billy Boo-hwan Lee, Head of Business Operations at Hanwha Aerospace.
Under the contract, Hanwha Aerospace will supply 18 Chunmoo launchers, precision-guided munitions of different ranges, ammunition carriers, fire direction command vehicles, and integrated logistics support, as well as training and lifecycle support. Deliveries will continue through 2030.
“The Chunmoo contract we are signing today represents far more than the supply of defense equipment. It is a symbolic achievement that demonstrates the shared commitment and vision of Korea and Croatia to strengthen our defense capabilities and safeguard our national security,” said Billy Boo-hwan Lee, President and CEO (Designate), Hanwha Aerospace.
The agreement marks the first defense contract between South Korea and Croatia. Chunmoo MRLS is already used by Poland, Estonia, and Norway.
